Into the Basin

Inspired by the feeling of swimming in the Basin, Rottnest Island on a hot summers day.

I want the viewer to feel as though they’re in the water! I had to do some frantic egg-beater kick whilst trying to take photos from the sea looking back at the island.

I have layered, scraped back and re-layered thick oil paint with a palette knife to try and convey the motion of the water.

Oil on Canvas, 61 x 31 cm. Painted sides and ready to hang.
