‘Moonscape by Diane McDonald. Acrylic on canvas, 152 x 76 cm, stretched and ready to hang.
Only a select few people will visit the moon in our lifetime, but surely the next best thing is in Tasmania.
Queenstown is a fascinating mix of sulphur-soaked hillside and deeply-scarred, barren landscape which has a unique haunting beauty. It doesn’t surprise me that Queenstown has a growing, vibrant arts community with home-grown locals swearing by the place.
I am fascinated by the pink glow that emanates from the landscape around this area. I had to capture it in this piece. Some say this town’s moonscape is ugly, but to me it is stunning.
