Above Shark Bay - Mark Boyle

Above Shark Bay by Mark Boyle (2018)

This exhibition is a collection of aerial photographs taken above the Shark Bay World Heritage region in Northern Western Australia.

It explores the amazing colours and patterns of this area as well as the man made shapes and patterns of the Useless Loop Salt Farm located in Shark Bay.

Shot from a light plane at an altitude of approximately 3000 feet. I have found shooting at this height to be the ideal altitude. It is high enough to begin abstracting the landscape but not so high as to begin to lose important detail.

My vision for this collection was to use the elements of colour, pattern, shape, texture and light to create images of depth and ambiguity.
