Tracey Harvey is based in Perth, Australia. She holds two degree’s in Science and Physiotherapy and has always had a passion for art, photography, people and travel.

She has lived both interstate and overseas in a variety of places including Melbourne Australia, Cairo Egypt, Hong Kong and Singapore and she draws inspiration also from these experiences and the many other countries that she has travelled to. In recent years she has had more time to indulge her passion of painting.

In Singapore she trained under British artist James Holdsworth and her works in oils were first exhibited here at The Holdsworth Gallery and Studio in 2008.

Tracey loves oils for their fluidity and colour intensity and she loves to explore new ideas and techniques and has since 2013 been focusing on painting abstract works in acrylics resulting in an exhibition “Illumination” in November 2013 where her works were well received.

Tracey’s paintings are complex, often involving many built up layers for texture and depth. A variety of colours and techniques are used and she likes to be quite vigorous and expressive with her brush and pallet and movement of the medium.

Tracey produces a variety of sizes in her art works but prefers larger scale pieces “I believe one large dynamic piece makes a statement in a room and therefore commands the design and colour palette of the space.

Artist Statement

I love to notice the small details of texture, shape and colour, that exist all around us but are often not noticed in our busy lives.

I love the land and the sea, and have travelled through and lived in many countries, all of whose memories and experiences have encouraged me to capture the fleeting moments of light and colour and their interaction with people and the landscape. I am inspired by nature and hope to translate a positive experience for those who see my work.

I love to use oils with their smooth, buttery feel, and acrylics with the expressive speed that they permit. I love to create abstract works, which combine a variety of techniques and many layers to create depth and interest, using a variety of implements to apply the paint.

I hope that my works stimulate thoughts of wonder about what might have influenced each work and that perhaps people will be drawn back to happy memories of the world around us.
