Childers Cove is a beautiful place for an artist to find inspiration! The colours, the shapes and textures of the rocks….. it is not all that far from Warrnambool and Port Fairy in western Victoria and just about at one end of the Great Ocean Road. We were so lucky to have the place to ourselves and absolutely loved walking around the cove and later on the top of the rocks, looking towards Port Campbell. It felt pretty special and the weather was great (even though there were some threatening clouds ….) so the blue sky really made the colours pop.

I have used just a few colours for the rocks: naples yellow, vermillion, paynes grey and yellow ochre, and added white for the rocks near the water.
Using the palette knives allowed me to create some nice texture, the light coloured rocks have quite a few layers of paint and I have scratched out some thin lines for added detail/interest.

There are bold colours in this painting and many interesting layers. It will definitely be a statement piece, while at the same time not dominate the interior of your room as the size is just right.
